Mammography: What To Expect
We make it a priority to ensure you are at ease during your mammogram. Canada Diagnostic Centres provides private change rooms and comfortable cloth gown. You will be asked to remove all jewelry before your exam. One of our technologists will assist you to the mammography room and help you position your breast on a special platform. The breast is gently compressed with a paddle to provide a better image by eliminating motion. By spreading the breast tissue, small abnormalities will be visible. This also allows for a lower X-ray dose since a thinner amount of the breast tissue is being imaged.
Note: Some women may feel discomfort during a mammogram. Please be sure to inform the technologist if pain occurs as compression increases. If your breasts are particularly tender at any point during your normal cycle, it’s best to avoid scheduling an appointment during this time.
