Ultrasound: What To Expect
We make it a priority to ensure you are at ease during your ultrasound. Canada Diagnostic Centres provides private change rooms, and comfortable cloth gowns. One of our technologists will position you on the cushioned ultrasound bed and will apply a warm gel to the area being scanned. A small handheld device called a transducer is placed on the skin and moved by the technologist over the area to obtain the necessary images. The process can take from 15 to 45 minutes depending on which body area is being scanned.
Once the scan is complete you are free to leave. The results are sent directly from the radiologist to your referring physician.
At your request, Canada Diagnostic Centres also offers a 15-20 second clip of your 4D obstetric/pregnancy ultrasound on CD-ROM if you are beyond 17 weeks in your pregnancy. 2D obstetric/pregnancy ultrasound images are also available if you are beyond 17 weeks in your pregnancy. Now you can share your ultrasound with family and friends from your home computer.
